Discipline Committee

The Discipline Committee (DC) holds hearings regarding allegations of professional misconduct or incompetence concerning a RRT which have been referred by the Professional Conduct Committee (PCC). In order for a referral to occur, the allegations must be of a serious nature and ensure that there is sufficient evidence available to support the allegation. The Discipline Committee consists of at least three members appointed by the SCRT council, a majority of whom need to be practising RRTs. Disciplinary hearings are held in a formalized tribunal setting.

When a complaint is referred to a hearing, a Notice of Hearing detailing the date, time and place is sent to the complainant, and the notice posted on the SCRT’s website.

What happens at a Discipline Hearing?

During a hearing the Discipline Committee hears evidence regarding the matter, and should the Committee make a finding of professional misconduct or incompetence, it may recommend to:

  • suspend the Member’s license for a specific period of time.

  • suspend a Member’s licence while he or she completes specific requirements.

  • revoke the Member’s license and membership.

  • pay a fine.

  • any other requirements as requested by the Discipline Committee.
